Dear colleagues and friends, ladies and gentlemen
Dear colleagues and friends, ladies and gentlemen

It is my sincere pleasure to invite you to join the Taiwan Society of Geriatric Emergency and Critical Medicine. The society was founded in 2004 with an aim to promote better care for the aged people who visit emergency room and stay in critical care. So far we have more than 700 MD members from almost all medical fields.

According to the World Health Organization, an aging society is defined as that the people over sixty years old exceeds 7% of the total population. Data from the statistics of the Interior Ministry of Taiwan, the Republic of China showed that Taiwan already belonged to an aging society and by the end of 2031, the number of people exceeding 65 years will reach 19.7% of the total population. in other words, one out of every five people is elderly. We can expect a variety of problems would come out accompanying the rapid increase in elderly population, in particularly, health care needs.

As we know, when aged people get ill, it is usually critical, and seldom completely recovered. To face the challenge of increased health care needs, the best strategy is to develop effective care plan, from the prevent of disease, management during acute ill period till the end of chronic care. The Taiwan Society of Geriatric Emergency and Critical Medicine is dedicated to complete the pan. We will gather the efforts of experts from different fields for research of these issues and their execution.

We need your participation to make it come true.

Sincerely Yours, Honorary Honorary President, Taiwan Society of Geriatric Emergency & Critical Care Medicine.
